Could someone tell me what this is worth?

Would like to get an idea of what this 1979 Colt Nickel Detective Special would bring, should I decide to sell it or trade it. I bought the gun (paid a lot of money for it) but it is way too nice to shoot. It is more for a collector and I do not believe in Safe Queens. The gun is in absolutely beautiful condition.

I have seen them as high as $1000.00 here in NY BUT, they were not in this good condition! I have $800.00 in it! I would probably do better trading it than selling it outright!

It's a very nice gun. I have no problem believing handgun prices in NY state are high. I grew up on Long Island, too.
I think you will be hard pressed to break even. $800 is a bit more than what it's worth in most parts of the country.

do a completed auction search on gunbroker.
they very well may sell for more in your neck of the woods, and yes i have a couple of guns i am holding for a future trade instead of selling outright. makes sense to me.

We'll leave a light on in the front room for you for when you emigrate farther west.
But keep going through N.J. - don't stop!

Jersey? The only time I stop there is to do business. Jersey is not the place any gun loving human wants to be in! It's bad enough that I am here in NY! (Note: no disrespect to anything in or about NJ other than their gun laws!)
