    unfired python ten pointer

So... I have done a search on the questions im going to ask but the answers i found were from early last year so im going to ask again just in case the answer is different.

I have a chance to buy an unfired 8" Python Ten Pointer. It has the scope mounted to it, the original box and papers and is about 99%. Last year someone posted the price would be in 1800-2200 dollar range. With the info i have given, would you say that is still an accurate price range? Could it be narrowed down more? Has the price gone up?

Also, I read somewhere Colt only made around 250 of these. Is that true? I have seen a few with serial numbers like T77XXX. This one has a serial number of T820XX. Does anyone have any insight on the serial? I did a search on it but didnt come up with anything.

thanks in advance for any info you may have

Welcome to the forum. I have no comment on value or actual quantity, but one would not expect the serial numbers of however many were made to be contiguous. I believe those that were destined to be Ten Pointers would simply be selected from the pool of available frames. The number range, however, would/should relate to the general timeframe in which they were made. JMO

If its in the condidtion you say..that would be the top price retail. But remember if its new in the box they should have a extra set of neopreme grips with them. And should have the wooden grips..and the scope should be a Burris 3x. Book shows 2000.00 at 100% and add 20% for NIB.

The book is the book and is a guideline, but most often is not reflective of the current Colt market. Unfortunately, low volume items are difficult to price other than what is being asked. If you have the cash and want the item, you set the market. All else is opinion and that is just mine.

So basically the price in the book is the same as last year. It seems to mee these only go up in value if they are kept in good condition. Is this correct? It does have both the wood and neo grips.

Mark, think about it in this manner.... authentic NIB, blue, 6" Pythons, complete with all correct paperwork with matching Colt Box and Box Label, have been selling on Gun Broker for as much as $2500 in recent months. I believe the value of an authentic, complete and test fired only Python Ten Pointer could be much more. How much more would depend on the actual condition of the Python and its accouterments. The "Ten Pointer" is not a well known Python. I rarely see "NIB" examples listed for sale. I think it is important to consider that the Python Ten Pointer was a Colt production model, not a distributor designed and commissioned model. As a general rule, the Lew Horton Combat Python being one exception, this would enhance the Python's desirability and value. Pictures would help significantly.

I know that I would pay, today, without hesitation, $1800 to $2200 for a Python like the one you have described.
