One phone call ref Colts and now tough decisions.

A friend who knows I like Colts, called this morning. He said a friend has 2 Colts he wants to get rid of...........

Of course I asked what kind and how much. He said a .357 mag , uh..? a Python, and a .45 Colt Andaconda. He said theyr'e nickel. [I think the .45 could be stainless]

I asked what bbl length. Again.uh... short ones. I contained my frustration, and asked how much.

He told me he would rather trade , like an 5 hp outboard motor, or something. Now I have this small Evinrude I use on my canoe........?

I have to wait till next week to get to see them. I want to drive there now and check them out.

Any ideas on values would be appreciated. I thought in the 6 to 7 hundred range is tops but I know condition is everything.

    Thanks

If you can get two Colts for one outboard motor, you should call him now and tell him its a deal before he comes to his senses.

Ballpark guesses from a non-expert - $600-$900 each, depending on condition. Neither one is in regular production anymore, so the value will only go up.

Anacondas in .45 Colt aren't exactly growing on trees. If both guns are in good shape and original I would probably make the trade.

Of course, one can never have too many small outboards about...

The Evinrude probably won't go up in value. The Colts will.

You know, I can't think too much on this or it will drive me crazy. The guy wants to trade and I like that idea, and probably wants a few bucks to boot. So the deal can go south real fast. The thing is I already have and a 6" .44 Andaconda and a 4" Python in my son's safe. But I sure liked to get a pristine Colt or two.

I still think, just a feeling, he will say the trade is good for one pistol only. We'll see. I'll let you know what happens as soon as I get back in town, it is a 6 hr drive there and back.
