Python Mounts & Prices

I just bought two Pythons. One a NIB 6" .357 ($850), and a .38 8" Target ($790; ANIB). Both are c. 1980. These prices were average for around here and what I have seen online.

I would like to mount a red dot on the Target gun. I know B-Square makes a mount, but there are some Leupold rings that each clamp right to the rib. I would think that the angle on top of the rib would point the scope up. Anyone have any experience with this rings-only system with their Trooper, King Cobra or Python? Is the scope too far ahead if it is mounted on the rib?

Does anyone have any mounting ideas? I am particularly nor interested in buggering up the finish on the gun!

This target gun has an incredible trigger - even for a Python!
