I have a Colt Cobra in .22LR with the 3" barrel with a serial number C986xx. According to proofhouse.com it falls within the serial number range C68951-C99999. However, when I look at the table, the column for the years of manufacture seems to be nonsequential. i.e. 1972, 1972, then 1970, then 1974. No production during 1973? So I'm not sure if this is a typo or if indeed this is how they were produced. Anyone that can verify this info from another source? I have noticed that proofhouse.com info is not 100% accurate when it comes to The Colt Woodsman's, so of course I'm going to question the info tabulated therein.

There are certainly transcription errors and errors of omission in Proofhouse. Some errors are carried from their sources in R. L. Wilson's books. From the charts in Colt, An American Legend, Cobra and othe light weight serial numbers for 1973 were C68951 - C9999, which obviously includes your gun. That means that the 1970 between 1972 and 1974 in Proofhouse should really be 1973. It is a proofhouse unique transcription error.

I have two Colt Troopers that I am trying to confirm DOB. Serial# Y2975 Y4609 I have looked at the charts on here and it looks like both were made in 1979? There were three different options and I still couldn't find them on the Proofhouse site.

I seldom notice when the sticky threads have been added to. Yes, they both date to 1979.
