Anaconda Legacy Limited Edition ???

A local gunstore has a beautiful Commemorative Wood Cased Anaconda Legacy Limited Edition on Consignment. It's plaque says it's 1 of 1000 and has an 8" barrel, with gold engraving over a VERY unusal looking "blued" finish. It's called High Gloss Blue according to the tag but looks much lighter colored than my Python. It's finish is super glossy, and with the Gold trigger, cylinder latch, hammer, and engravings, it's definitely not a shooter especially at $2500. Gunkwazy, you got one of these too??? ... or anyone else have one ?? I wish I did, but don't have the expendable $2500 !! I did get one fair cell phone pic I can e-mail if anyone wants to see what it actually looks like.

The reason it looks different is because it's a blue finish over a stainless gun vs a Blue Cold drawn steel finish.
That gun that you are describing sounds like the one that the American Historical Foundation had done a few years back.
They even charge extra just for the display case. Like around $150-$199.
That company has done many guns through the years.
The one gunshop I frequent here in AZ has a Gold plated 1911 Colt that's highly embelished and was done by the same company and it also has the wood & glass display case.
I think the original price was $2000 plus $200 for the case.
He's had it for sale for $1400 for months and can't sell it.
My thought is, for that price, stay away from it.
If they wanted $1500 I would think about it, but at that price, walk away.

Nope, the only one I had from that company was a fully engraved 1 of 50 S&W semi-auto that I got so cheap that I took it to the range and shot it. You should have seen the looks I got. Quite funny actually. Taking out a fully engraved gun that was made to be sitting in a case and shooting it. I had some factory 20 round mags that fit it so I shot a couple boxes through it quite quickly. I sold it off and the guy that bought it thought I was a nut for shooting it and selling it so cheap.
Oh well, I had fun with it.

Re: Anaconda Legacy Limited Edition ???

I would question if they actually sold 1000. These appear to have a small following. In other words, you better be the person who enjoys the extras as very few others will. It took several years for the factory commemoratives to sell, and some are still a hard sell, and these are not factory commemoratives. If it were myself I spend the money on a Colt first edition, Anaconda Hunter, Custom Anaconda or other factory special than these dogs on the market. Not to put any supplier down but these are heavily advertised and hyped up just like a Herter's catalog. just my .02

I would too. I bet the had them made up to say 1000, so that would be the maximum if demand was there, but since you see these less often than Double Diamonds, Snake Eyes, Boas, and other low edition Colts, I bet far fewer were actually made.

Its not like they'd buy 1000 Anacondas at one time from Colt, then engrave and finish all 1000, then try to sell them. I bet it was more like buy 10-20, do them, order more as they sell them. Probably made 100-200? Who knows.
