WANTED : Colt Official Police Grips

Hi, i'm looking for a set of original Official Police grips, circa 1941. Checkered walnut, square butt with silver medallions (e-i frame). Have a detroit PD issued nickel one with absolutely awful fake stag.

Been on both - haven't found anything on gunbroker & haven't found a decent set on ebay. For a common gun, these have been strangely difficult to find.

Gun Parts Corp (Numrich) was not too long ago listing them. They claimed them to be authentic Colt products, but I am not sure they were. I think I saw some at Sarco several years ago, you might check there. The same grips were used on a number of different Colt revolvers having the same frame size, even the Python. I think virtually all of the Colt checkered wood service grips were pretty much the same design from the early 1920s onward, but there may have been some slight differences over the years. Some apparently have a hollowed-out back side, and I am always suspicious of those as being fakes, even though they may not be. The service grip design is so simple that I am surprised that there aren't lots of people making reproductions. For reasons I cannot fathom, those I have seen listed on eBay are bringing obscene prices. I have a couple of pairs with some damage, but as scarce as they seem to be, I'm hanging onto them.

Thanks DWalt. I know Numrich, and NC Ordnance make repros, which would be fine for the gun if it was in great shape. Its probably like a 70% gun, so i think new ones would look weird. I've found a couple on ebay and they were relatively poor condition and they sold at like 80-100 (which is half of what i paid for the entire gun, so not worth it to me)
