Just picked this revolver up in a trade. It is in excellent plus condition no box etc. looks almost unfired.
got this one to shoot but it may be a little too nice.
Elmer. Serial Number is 643503 1940-41 ?
Hope would get some response with some background. Is this one of the ones that went to the Mass. National Guard? General serial number range correct? Number produced. Any help appreciated. Thanks Elmer.
Based on www.proofhouse.com and knowing that these were serialed with the OP and Marshall, it looks like 1940. Also, here is a previous post (there are a few others) that addresses the topic. http://www.coltforum.com/forums/showflat...=true#Post29948
Is that what you wanted? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
thank you much, It looks like I will still need to letter the piece. to see who it went to. Is the Joe Miller survivor list still available? Thanks Elmer.
We believe that there were approx. 850 of this variation produced but it could be more. At any one time I can find about 6 for sale. It's probably the hefty prices being captured. In most cases they show up in excellent to mint condition. Check out this auction for a minty / unboxed that recently closed.
I testfired this revolver yesterday 30 rounds. I used factory 98 grain LRN Magtech ammo. The accuracy is astounding. Using a 2 handed hold at 10 yards. I was able to put 4 shots into 1/2 in hole with one shot just outside the group. Elmer.
