    1911 serial number is C [24721] the brackets are there on the gun. ???

    its a government model, I know the C is for commercial but the brackets/bars around the 4 digit serial number is throwing me off. any guidance out there??

    I dont think so. use magnification they are not inline with the other numbers and are not shaped correctly. also the number if they were ones does not come up in a search.

    Numbers were hand-stamped so usually are not perfectly aligned. The "look up" system often does not "find" numbers so that means nothing. Those "brackets" are indeed the numeral one stamped in the font in use at the time.

    Yup. The records I looked at said C121000 to C126999 made in 1920.

    that serial number is 100% correct. Can we see the rest of the gun? looks like a nice government model. I have one very close in number just got my letter back from colt on it.
