Have a used one on the way. Suppose to be in excellent condition. I heard these were only made for 1 year.
Question 1: How many were produced?
Question 2: What is this gun worth and is it a collectors item?
Will not have original box and paper work
I've only seen one sell recently.
went for $200 more than a basic 45 defender.
don't know how many were made.
Be sure you get the magazine with the pink/orange follower when you buy xtras. I did not know this when I got mine. I loaded up on 2nd gen mags. They do not work well either. A hybrid mag may work too. The mags with the metal follower do not always feed well. I could not get them to feed flat nose rounds. I have some hybrid mags by Virgil Trip that worked in mine. I do not need them since I sold the pistol and got a SIg 229. Took abourt a 200 hit. Live and learn I guess. Hope you have better luck than I did. I really wanted a Colt in 40 Cal.
Just bought 3 new mags, all original Colt with metal follower
You best shoot it. If it works good be thankful and drive on.
I bought 5. Thought I was being prudent. Found a deal.. Now I know why. I could not find the pink follower jobies anywhere when I was looking. For some reason, the metal follower jobies seem to tip the nose of the bullet down and they "woodpecker" the feed ramp. IMO, it was incredibly stupid to put the ramp on the frame. I am not a fan of aluminum frames or polymer either when it comes to my guns. But that is the way they are being made now. And try to find a nice reasonably priced Smith w.o an internal lock. I think Mec-gar made the pink magzines. I called about them last year and they had none in stock. Colt was no help either at the time. I was ticked. Figured if they were going to make the thing they should have mags that are reliable. I have never seen any problems with 45s, or 10mm or 9mm. But for some reason that flat nosed 40 is a problem.
Without the box and papers, I do not believe it is a collectors item. Collectors want them unfired, unracked, with all papers, box and shipper.
I shot about 50 rounds and it worked perfect even with the new metal followers
Lucky so far.............
Still would like to know how many were made though
