    Colt 1900

    Hello,
I have a Colt 1900 and I would like to know the significance of the number 779 which is engraved beside the grips.
    Thank you.

The number looks like it was stamped there, not engraved. It was probably put there by some previous owner as some kind of an inventory or control number. It was not put there by Colt. Government entities often stamped control numbers on guns.

It pains me to see a "Sight Safety" Model 1900 that has been so poorly refinished. Unaltered Sight Safety Models of 1900 are rare. What do you know about the gun?

I notice the front cross bar is "white." What is the reason for that?

    Welcome to the forum.

    Hello,
Thank you for your answer which is very good.
I think that front cross bar lost its blue.
    The weapon functions very well.
