    Colt 1902 value? New pictures.

I was just trying to get a general idea of a value on this gun (colt 1902 38 rimless.I have searched the Internet and prices vary from $1200-$3000 which is very little help. If someone could give me a general idea that's pretty close on value I would appreciate it. Thanks for any help...

Wish the grips weren't damaged. Original pearls w/o damage might go for $250. Is your serial number 2466? Does your slide have a matching serial number? The reason I'm asking is the Colt pictured is a 1902 sporting, refinished probably worth the lower of your range, maybe $1500. If your slide is a lower serial number 2466, it is really a 1900 with a later 1902 Sporting slide and I would bump up my estimate a little. PM me with better pictures.

Is the forward takedown plug convex or concave. Now that I look at your slide markings the 2 line "Patented" including the date of "Sept 9, 1902" and using the abbreviations " PT FA MFG CO" and "CT" is a much later slide marking, possibly as late as 1909. This slide may have been marked at a later date or been done as part of a cleanup run. I have a number of these early pistols, but only one with these slide markings 1902 10987 t (800x600).jpgwhich was one of the last 200 or so made. Note the slide markings on this one which is similar to yours , this one also has the rampant Colt w/o being circled, a much later slide marking and not correct for the time period when it supposedly was manufactured.

It's been reblued. Not worth that much. Look a the hammer, which should be case hardened.

Oh, reading the other posts now....it also has the wrong hammer, and may be a put together of some sort. I wouldn't pay $800 for it.
