    Colt Woodsman Value

I spotted a really nice Colt Woodsman Target (not Match Target) in a local shop for $795. The pistol looks flat mint and has the matching box w/papers and target. I know it wouldn't last long so I put a deposit on it. What do you guys think of the price?

    Which model? How old?

Sounds like a premium price, but it also sounds like a premium package.

Buy it! You will regret it if you don't. Even for a 3rd Series Woodsman Target that is not too bad a price given that you get all the goodies --box, papers, and test target. Let us see pictures when you get it.

FYI -- Cheaper Than Dirt has clips for this gun as long as it is a 2nd Series or a 3rd Series pistol.

My Colt was made in 1960, boy they don't make them like this anymore. I was thinking about shooting it but it's so pristine I think I'll keep it pristine.

Let me just say that is quite the work of art. I bet the action is slick and the trigger breaks like a glass rod.

I would like to get a woodsman myself (a first series sport model) due purely to the design and function excellence of the woodsman that is yet to be surpassed. But the collector value is so high that I'm sort of afraid of wearing down the bluing on a nice example...

USFA makes some expensive guns -- hopefully they can keep the price competitive enough to make the concept worth it.

Nice gun, good price. Doesn't hurt to shoot them - just take good care of it.

Here's a few more photos, the box is ofcourse numbered to the gun, and look at the original price tag.
