    Colt Huntsman .22

Hello new to the forum and needed some info on the Colt Huntsman .22 semi-auto pistol. What year were they made and what would you say the value of one would be in very good condition with one magazine?

The Huntsman was made from 1955 to the end of production of the Woodsman line n 1977. The Huntsman was a basic economy version of the Woodsman at a more affordable price and consequently sold in great numbers. Since it was an economy model, and was produced in considerable numbers, the value today is significantly less than the Woodsman models (Target, Sport, and Match Target) of the same era.

does the targetsman fall into that "economy" area too? I found a NIB targetsman with the black plastic grips. the guy behind the counter wrote it up as a "tradesman" and the serial # does not match anything on your site. I will have to wait until I pick it up to see what exactly it is.

Huntsman, Challenger and Targetsman were the economy versions of the Woodsman series.
Some or all of them lacked the slide hold open feature.

    targetsman

This model has an "economy" fully adjustable rear site. It worked fine as it was designed to work with a standard huntsman front sight. It did lack the hold open feature but had the taget stocks of the woodsman. The huntsman had the non-thumb rest or standard stocks.
