Why do we press harder on the buttons of a remote control when we know the batteries are dead?
Colt conversion units sell on gunbroker starting around $400 and up from there considering condition, vintage, available box, etc. There were/are several different versions starting with pre-war then into post-war with the floating chamber, and into the ACE II. Only certain variants were serial numbered so the lack of a serial number is of no concern but it may help date the unit. Suggest you take a look on gunbroker.com with search words "Colt Ace" to see some of the various versions and maybe find yours. Pictures would obviously help pin it down with the experts. The CAPS don't bother me.
The slide marking indicates production between 1948 and 1955, when the operating name of Colt was "Colt's Mfg. Co.."
In regard to the "all caps" issue, what is the point of using them? Is it really too much trouble to use the shift key in customary fashion? Most consider it impolite to use all caps, so why do it?
that I got locally (near Detroit) for $350. Sadly there was no box or papers; but it is otherwise complete, wit 2 magazines:
