    Colt/Umarex 1911-.22 Looks Cheap

    Hi ,
I got to handle one of these new Colt/Umarex 1911-.22 pistols and I wasn't very impressed. The slide is a coarse black finish and the Colt rollmarks are painted white. The pistol itself felt very flimsy. Any thoughts on these? I was considering one as a plinker for my son to enjoy, but I think Colt sold out on this one by licensing their name, etc.

Lots of folks seem to swear by them and one of my shooting buddies really likes his but I agree with you. Seems to cheap to me when I handled it.

I ordered a browning 1911 22 for my daughter and we will see how that turns out. Not a true 1911 since it is 7/8's in size but the rest of it looks nice.
10mm and 357 sig. The best things to come along since the 38 Super.

Umarex makes paint ball guns. This was their first venture into an actual firearm. I like the looks of the Colt/Umarex 22 but everything I've hear about it is that is feels/is very cheap and flimsy feeling.

I don't get that impression at all. It's rather solid, though the trigger is a bit harsh....

The billboard "rollmark" is a bit much, but mechanically...it's a .22...not sure what you expect of one...

I handled one yesterday. Handled and dry fired at the store- no shooting involved. It may trun out to be a nice little gun, but....

For a cheap imported .22 plinker I would not have real high expectations.

For gun with COLT emblazoned on the slide I expect a whole heck of a lot more than was there. I think Colt shot themselves in the foot with this sellout of their ICONIC name.

    Folks.

In the words of the great Jerry Springer : Don't even go there!

Why? We - as Colt-afficionados - expect a Colt 1911 to be like a Colt 1911-model like they should be: Cold hard steel, some nice wood and blueing were you can polish your teeth in, stainless steel to count the hairs in your toupet and the weight like it should wheigh.

As for this thing - plus the GSG's and all the other plasticfantastic models which already or might raise it's ugly head in the upcoming months and years - it doesn't have it. Yes, it 's got the pony. But in my point of view - that thoroughbred should only be stamped on a true Colt. Not some piece of potmetal and plastic.

Saw a vid a while back of a fieldstrip of this gun. When one is used to the ringing of a steel slide and frame the sound of potmetal scraping over polymer...it made me wanna puke.

Who's the idiot that sold-off New-Amsterdam? I could have been reading this board in Dutch!

    sig, gsg, colt

Bad licensing decision if you ask me. This gun is made in the same place as the GSG, and Sig 1911 22's

    Pony or old hag ?

I am a retired military senior nco and I hate to talk about a brother in arms , but I think that that two star in charge of COLT needs to retire for the second time!! there are two things that you don't mess with grandma's cookie rescipe and COLT'S QUALITY!
