Need Info and Value of Two Ben Lane Engraved 1950 Woodsman Match Targets

Greetings. I have the opportunity to purchase two 1950 Woodsman Match Targets that are engraved by Ben Lane. I was wondering how rare these are and how much I should offer. They are in metal cases without the original boxes. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Scott

Pretty hard to give you a value without pictures - or at least more information on the guns themselves, such as 'condition' - amount of engraving coverage, etc.. As far as Ben Lane goes - he is one of my all-time favorite modern engravers.. He's done a fair amount of work in the Nimschke & Helfricht styles.. He is a Master Engraver for Colt firearms and a FEGA Master Engraver - and also a Charter Member and past president of the Firearms Engravers Guild of America. I don't think engravers credentials get much better than that.. You can Google him and see a lot of his work - some of which is posted on this forum...
Enjoy the ride - no-one gets out alive!

I would check with Ben Lane. He is alive and well.

Looks like the job was never finished. Prepped for a gold inlaid squirrel but not completed, and not blued.

Thanks for the heads up. I have decided to pass on them as there are too many loose ends. That's why I brought it to the forum and all of you knowledgable elders of Coltdom!
