    New Mustang

I'm obviously a Colt guy, and love my 1911 New Agent Talo. My question is, does anyone have any hands on experience with the new Colt Mustang. I'm torn between that gun and the Sig 238. Comments and recommendations would be great.

In my own, selfish, opinion, whichever company has the intelligence to offer an ambi safety option for us left-handed shooters get my money.

    Are you listening Colt? Sig?

I gave up waiting for the Mustang! Bought the SIG P238 Wednesday, picked it up Friday. Took it to the range Saturday. First round "Short strike", tiny dent in primer, no bang! Next round, slide stop 1/4 inch short. The ammo was American Eagle. 95 gn, FMJ. Another disappointment. Total cost $700 with extra mag, Background check and tax! I bought the set of A Zoom Snap caps today and ran them through the SIG. Number of times the slide did not travel fully forward.... 5 times with 6 attempts. 6 SC in the mags each time.

Went to the SIG forum. This was a problem with the first runs of the P238. My model SN beginning with 27Axxxxxx is said to be "Flawless". So I guess your answer is Colt does not want to sell us the Mustang!(unavailable) SIG sells a handgun that is nothing but aggravation. The search for the Mustang was frustration, the SIG P238...I will not repeat myself.

My next step? Trade the $600 SIG for a Ruger LCP?

Why not just buy an original Mustang if you want one?

Larry, sorry to hear you're having problems with your new 238. Mine (HD) has run perfectly with various commercial ammunition and Sig magazines. The SS frame makes it a little heavy but it's a small package. I wouldn't give up on Sig too quickly.

Someone once said they rather have a roll of duct tape than a Ruger LCP... Let me state I strongly support that thought process...Maybe even Camo !

I have seen some new Mustangs on the web at Guns America. I'd try and hold out for one, if you can.

It's not the same weapon but my Sig239 in 9mm has never failed to feed nor fire and if I do my job it hits what I'm aiming at. I'd love to have a COLT with the same features but I don't believe they make one . The decocker is a preference for me I reckon. I know it's an apples and oranges thing. Perhaps you got that 238 that was made friday afternoon at 4:59. I'd return it where you got it from assuming you didn't get it used or an "as is" deal.

I conceal carry a 380. I have had the Kel Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP, Kahr P380, Sig P238 Equinox, Walther PPK/S, LLAMA Minimax 380, Older Colt Mustang Plus2, and now on the Smith Bodyguard. I am probably leaving a few off of the list. My favs out of these so far taking into consideration ease of carry, weight, size, reliability, accuracy, trigger pull, and overall design. If I had to rate these they would go like this Smith Bodyguard #1, Kel Tec P3AT, Kahr P380, Sig P238 Equinox, Mustang Plus2, Ruger LCP, LLAMA Minimax 380, and last Walther PPK/S. As a note, the Kahr P380 would be at least tied for number one if not for a poor magazine bottom plate lock design. The thing literally flies apart when doing fast Magazine reloads. I contacted Kahr about his but they didnt seem like it was a problem. I even went and got another new mag and the exact same thing-mag flies apart about 40% of the time when you pop it in fast and hard. Its a shame because the Kahr was the most accurate of the bunch followed by the Smith then it gets really close. The Kel Tec really surprised me in accuracy and reliabilty. Hope this helps if anyone is looking for a 380 to carry. Also I am on the list to get one of the New Mustangs (probably will get 2) so I will see how it does. There was not been the first one come into this part of the country yet, I have checked with most of the dealers in SW Virginia of which nonw have received one yet...

My LCP goes bang with every trigger squeeze.... not sure what duct tape would do to them?
