Hope you didn't ship the Colt yet, Factory is closed until after the first of the New year.
Hello Gentlemen. I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I just bought a new 1991 Commander and have fired it thirty times. After cleaning I noticed the firing pin was to far forward in the firing pin stop. Looking closer I found that the head of the firing pin had swelled to large for the hole in the stop. Well back to Colt it goes and they have been great to work with so far. I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen to a new 1911 made this year?
Hope you didn't ship the Colt yet, Factory is closed until after the first of the New year.

Colt will get it working properly. I purchased a Colt Combat Elite last January and I have to say Colt is turning out really nice 1911's right now. Your's will be up and running in no time.
Welcome from another Virginian.
Yes. I had a 2011 production 1991 and the firing pin had such a large burr on it that is was stuck forward. I ended up just filing down the burr and buffing it out. It was hell getting it out of the pin channel.
I gotta .45 underneath my coat and another one in my boot.
Got my Commander back from Colt today! Repair order written January 3 2012 and arrived back home today February 2 2012. I think that is great service and wish to thank the good people at Colt! Kudos to Fed Ex as well. Test fired the pistol this afternoon and it is ok so far. There are a couple more pistols and revolvers I would like to see Colt make again and service like this is reason enough to buy them!!!
As an addendum, my advice is, also, to not dry fire it unless you have a snap-cap in the chamber.
