i would offer $600 and see if that works.
folks are gonna chime in and say it is worth more, and it is, but if the seller is leaving it up to you, then go for the gusto.
heck, ya might offer $500.
not worth over $800 on the high end, imho.
The pictures below are of a stainless Series 80 that I have a chance to either buy or trade for. It comes with 2 stainless Colt magazines and that's it. I'm going to meet the seller on Thursday so I would appreciate your input on what you feel a fair price to offer him would be?

Agree-- $800 or less is OK. $700 or less is good deal. $600 or less is a steal.
agree 700 or less is fair for you.![]()
The pistol appears to be an early stainless with wood stocks and without the plastic parts found on later guns. To me, that makes it worth more than the average used Series 80 stainless.
I want to thank all that responded to my question. You probably saved me from making a big mistake.
I looked at the gun earlier this afternoon and all I can say is that pictures can be deceiving. It's nowhere near pristine. It has a lot of scratches and some weird staining on the top of the slide and the front grip strap has quite a few dings in it. He carries it in a pistol rug with the spare magazine right next to the pistol. I'm sure that accounts for some of the scratches. It's not a bad gun but nowhere near the value that the owner put on it.
