Need a Government model frame ( series 80)
I saw one of these Colt conversion kits for the series 80 at my LGS today. I have a series 80
lightweight commander I was thinking about using it with. I was wondering if it would work on
a commander or would you need a government size for it to work?
Thanks,
Navarre

That's what I thought.Thanks for the information.
What is the asking price if you don't mind me asking?

You can use the Unit on a Commander frame, but there wii be a gap at the dust cover joint.
you CAN get commander sized 9mm conversions. i have one from Fusion with a threaded barrel. runs great!

Why do we press harder on the buttons of a remote control when we know the batteries are dead?
The issue is a COLT .22 Conversion Unit and a Commander pistol. The fact that there is an aftermarket 9mm conversion is not relevant to that issue.
Navaare, just for clarification, your question concerns a "real" Series 80 Conversion Unit, not an Ace II, correct? "Real" Series 80 Conversion Units are very scarce, so, if the seller does not have it priced accordingly, buy it even if you decide not to use it.
Gunpoor and I are both untested in the asking price if you care to reveal it. Some sellers are not aware of how rare "real" Series 80 Conversion Units are so occasionally, one will be offered well under market.
What accuracy could one expect from a COLT conversion units? 38 SUPER TO 9MM , ETC. i am NOT talking about .22LR
There are so few 9mm Conversion Units and so many .22 Conversion Units (although not so many Series 80 .22 Conversion Units), that I totally overlooked the reference to "9mm" in the subject heading, and thought the question was about putting a Series 80 .22 Conversion Unit on a Commander. The older I get, the dumber I get. Sorry for the error.
That said, the full-size 9mm Conversion Unit CAN be used on a Commander, but there will be a gap between the frame and dust cover, just like with the .22 Conversion Unit.
Anyone got good accuracy out if them?
