    Cheap Ammo, Please?

    Hey, Colt Fans,

I've been trying to stockpile .45 ACP ammo these last few years and I've noticed, like all of us I'm sure, the ever rising price of these gems. In fact, I read a blurb on my GunAuction.com e-newsletter this week that likened ammo prices to that of gold.

That said, I'd like to hear from any of the Forum's .45 ACP shooters who might have an excellent source. So far I shop GunAuction.com, Cabela's, Gander Mountain, Dick's Sporting Goods, Dunhams Sports, Ammo Expo, Ammo.net, Bulk Ammo.com, Midway, Natchez, Brownell's, Target Sports USA, Bass Pro Shop, Cheaper Than Dirt as well as a number of decent outlets here in Central Ohio. With careful shopping I can often spot deals that offer free shipping. With most out-of-state suppliers there's no sales tax, either. I even shop Wal Mart, much as I despise that store, but they often beat many competitors. At least I know most of the the ammo there is American-made.

    Comments or recommendations, please? Thanx!

If you Shop on line try using the Coupons from: Coupon codes and discounts for 140,000 online stores! RetailMeNot.com.

I have had some good deals from Cabela's and Midway using these coupons, BUT you have to be a very careful and vigilant buyer. Both of the aforementioned retailers run ad's that change from day to day and month to month, especially Cabela's and make sure you look at their in-store sale flyers that they post on their web site.

If you are comfortable to use re-manufactured Ammunition, probably 'Mastercast' Bullets would be worth checking out...far as I have found, they enjoy a very good reputation.

Otherwise, get a re-loading Press, and, learn how to use it..!

That really is the best way to go.

I have found that sgammo.com and aimsurplus.com have the best prices for the calibers I typically buy for .38/.357, 9mm, .45 ACP, .223/5.56, 5.45x39. I see no reason why the many other calibers they offer wouldn't be competitively priced.

There is also www.ammoman.com his prices include shipping. I also use www.ammoseek.com - just check which caliber your looking for and will give a list starting with the cheapest on up. It even breaks down on the far right as to cost per round. Good for obscure calibers.

i suggest reload....its easy to learn..you get what you want, when you want it...typically i can reload 50 magnum rounds for about five dollars (lead) and thats without me casting the bullets....sure makes for more range time :-)

    WWB from WallyWorld

They dropped the price on .45 hardball a coupe of months ago.

But I found a VERY reasonably price source for bulk, match quality ammo, and just took delivery of 1,000 rnds.
