Don't know on your question 100% - other than why wouldn't it feed?
But, why ball ammo - is that some kind of break-in?
I break my Colts in by taking them out of the box...
Hello all. I have a Commander XSE 04012XSE on order and have a question regarding ammo. I'm a handloader and my prefered .45 ACP load is a cast 200 gr. SWC (H&G #68 style) handloaded to 850 - 900 fps. Plans are to first put 50 - 100 rounds of 230 grain hardball through it before switching over to SWCs.
According to Colt Customer Service, this pistol "should" feed SWCs and hollow points without a problem. I'm looking for feedback from those using 200 grain cast SWCs, specifically as to reliability of feeding. Hopefully the pistol is ramped and throated for SWCs and hollow points.
Thanks for your feedback.

nothing
Yes, the concern is if it will feed cast SWC reliably, and it sounds like there won't be a problem. I usually break in a new 1911 with a box or 2 of hard ball, then develop a load for the pistol using SWC bullets. I've only had 1 other Commander, not a Colt, and it didn't like much of anything besides 230 grain jacketed bullets.
Thanks for the response.
