    Woodsman 4-1/2" 2nd MT with Heiser 935X

Yesterday I posted some pictures of this combination on the "Leather and Accessories" but received a request for more details of the gun, so here they are. I bought the Woodsman at the seller's asking price, and when it arrived I was delighted to see the nice Heiser that came with it.

I had been told beforehand that some of the small parts were nickel plated. I have all those parts in blue, in new condition, and originally planned to replace them. I've since decided that I like it the way it is, and will not be changing out the nickel parts.

In S&W talk a mixed blue and nickel is called a pinto. They made them as a factory gun and are highly collectible. Did Colt produce anything like that? The finish on yours is very good and it seems odd to nickel small parts that would likely have been in excellent condition. Any possibility that was factory? Thats a neat combo, very practical holster and "bbq" gun. I've seen quite a few of those holsters for sport models, but I think thats the first for a MT.

That's a very nice MT. I just made the acquaintance of the Match Target line yesterday when I found one at my range and bought it after only a few seconds of reflection. But mine has the longer barrel.

The pistol is a beauty for sure and the holster simply exquisite.

Anything is possible, but I doubt that it left Colt with the nickel parts. A factory letter probably would not say, since it would have been a special order and those job records no longer exist. The non-computerized post-WWII records at Colt's are far less complete than the prewar records.

The Holster was made for a Sport Model, since the short barrel MT didn't come into existence until later. Fortunately for me the MT fits perfectly.
