    That's an interesting pile of parts, I wonder what the frame is? It's not cut like an 1911a1 and the serial number certainly is not Colt or any other pre WW2 type frame. I suspect there's a few 1911 guys that would shy away from that just looking at the serial number.

    the original serial # stamp has been erased. you can just see what is left of the o in no w/the line underneath. it is an original colt frame.
    i would be scared of the frame, but the top end is pretty sweet.

    The serial number has been re-cut. There are traces of the "No" prefix remaining. (As ralph noted.) The frame is late 1918 / early 1919 Colt (assuming the serial number has not changed), and has been almost fully 'cleaned' of all markings. The slide is much newer than the frame - probably 1960's. I would stay away from this one... even as a shooter. It is a felony to be in possession of a firearm with an altered serial number...

    I would not have looked at this mismash for 2 or 3 seconds ...
