The "Colt 22" and the "Colt 22 Target" guns don't seem to be very difficult to find and still sell at reasonable prices. The first year "Cadet' marked guns seem to be scarce as hens teeth and I have only seen one of them face to face. I have never seen any overall production totals, much less a total for the elusive "Cadet" marked guns. I have tried to get production totals from Colt for other late production guns and had little success. Even though Colt can, and will, check individual serial numbers for us, they don't seem to have kept records for production totals of some individual models.
Is the CADET marking on the barrel or is it part of the serial number as the guns pictured here?
The Slide has "Colt 22" engraved on it. It is not "roll marked" . There is NO markings on the barrel. The serial number is also engraved, It is the only place that "Cadet" is mentioned.
That is a crazy grip angle on those guns. They look like a ton of fun though.
Keeps coming up. When the Cadet appeared in the 1994 catalog, it looked like this:
In the 1995 catalog, the Colt Cadet had been airbrushed out:
Then there is the First Edition 22:
With nothing on the left side of the slide:
It appears that the Cadet serial numbered guns may have been originally intended frames, but released with the later politically correct slides. JMO![]()
