    Colt Junior

Hi Thanks for all the Wisdom on the site

Recently at a gun show I saw a Junior that was in really good shape with a ratty box and the guy was trying to hit a Homer. OK thats his buisness

But I found a nice one and I was wondering thoughts on these.
I have a couple questions that include which caliber I think I would like the 22 short
Are they safe to carry in a pocket? Are they dependable? Are they worth having? Any idea of fair pricing?

    Thanks Hank

    I have a few!

    Q: which caliber
A: For reliability, I would go with a center fire over rim fire. To save a few coins, I would go with rim fire. For self defense, I would not go with a Junior.

Q: Are they safe to carry in a pocket?
A: Safe is a relative term. They have a magazine safety, a manual safety, and are single action only. There was a recall to improve the odds against a negligent discharge if the guns was dropped just wrong. If the gun has an "M" marked inside the slide near the ejection port, it SHOULD have had the firing pin and spring swapped out. The "safer" firing pin is shorter than the original.

    Q: Are they dependable?
    A: My experience says yes.

    Q: Are they worth having?
    A: I may be biased!

Q: Any idea of fair pricing?
A: CONDITION CONDITION CONDITION- Ranges I have paid- from $100 up to $500

really good shape with a ratty box and the guy was trying to hit a Homer.

    What was his asking price?

My highest cost Junior was this:

.22 short with everything that came with it EXCEPT the plastic sleeve. It was $500 plus a $20 transfer fee.

$320 for the "good shape" .22 with two mags may be a fair price, but it would be hard to sell me on the $700 price tag for the other one. I MIGHT be convinced if it was a 4" Astra Camper that was pristine...

... but the one above was right at $500 also.
