    1953 Colt Value????

Sellr has a nice 1953 Colt .45 ACP. Seems to have the correct grips. Was just wondering what the value might be with no box or papers. Thanks to all. Check out the pics.

Lets see. Blue thinning and some scratches, mismatched grips, left one is correct style. Depending on any other issues and internals in my part of the world it shold sell between $700 and $900. Of course if on a dealers table at a gun show the dealers will ask $1200 to $1500. It appears to be a decent cary/shooting piece and if you are so inclined a decent basis for a custom or engraved gun. Just my 2 cents worth.

It's hard to get a Quality Colt for under $1,000.00. They exist but one must work harder to find them...Regionally prices adjust as well. The Colt in California might bring several hundred dollars more than lets say in Kentucky. If you find something that you like and you can afford it with reasonable negotiating it's best to get it, because hesitation has always brought another buyer.

Even with some wear and mismatched grips, it's probably about a $800 gun if there's no other issues. Pre Series 70 Govt. Models are attracting more attention in the past few years. It wouldn't be hard to find a matching set of Coltwood grips for it either. The revolver Coltwoods seem to be a lot harder to find.

One thing I did notice - the arched mainspring housing was replaced with a flat MSH. So there's one replacement part we know of. I'd thoroughly check out everything else. Does it have the original barrel, etc. etc.?
