Colt Match Target Question

I have a new (to me) Match Target SN 171xxx -s that I believe is a 3rd series. It seems to want to fail to feed several times per magazine and the problem occurs with two magazines. I have cleaned the feed ramp and that looks fine to me. I have been using Winchester Super X 40 grn. long rifles - the ones with the copper colored bullet. Any suggestions on what to look for in order to fix the problem? Thanks, Rich

FIRST OFF, go clean the magazines very well too. Make sure the feed lips are smooth and sleek; use crocus cloth on 'em if need be.
NEXT, load a few rounds in the magazine and feed 'em into the pistol by hand watching closely where they're hanging up. You'll figure it out very soon. DO not forget that magazines can wear out and should be replaced then.

Thanks for the advice. The magazines have been cleaned but I suspect that the feed lips need a little "attitude adjustment". Hard telling how many rounds have gone through them. I believe that my pistol was made in 1958 so those magazines have probably fed thousands and thousands of rounds. The way that the rounds are standing up in magazine points to the feed lips as well as where they are hanging up slightly high above the chamber. Thanks again for the response.
