I'm curious as to why on the Colt web site they list the shorter Gold Cup mainspring for the .38 Super as well as the Gold Cup. Whereas the standard mainspring is listed for the Gov't Model & Commander.

We have two .38 Super pistols a LWT XSE & a M1991A1 Combat Comm. Both of these pistols have the shorter mainspring in them. I am curious as to why, or the reason that the shorter mainspring is recommended for the 38 pistol or if there even is one.

Also Midway lists the Colt mainspring weights as; standard 23#; Gold Cup, 38 Super 13#. Does any one know the actual spring rate of the shorter one or is it 13 pounds?
