    Trouble with Commander Duckbill

I recently purchased a new Colt Commander (COLT 1991 Series 80 Commander Blue 45 ACP Model # O4961) and have about 500 rounds down range with it. I love the gun; problem is that the darn duckbill digs into the web of my hand due to the recoil. I wind up bleeding after about 20 rounds fired and now have a permanent dent where the duckbill sits in my hand. I have tried replacing the grip safety with a Wilson Combat "drop in" beavertail, but it seems to require me to alter the frame to sit correctly (which I would rather not do). Any suggestions short of modifying the frame? As I said, I love the gun, but would rather not get blood all over it every time I shoot it (well, my blood, at least). Thanks for any help.

I have a pair of less than elegant, but "drop-in" style beavertail grip safeties that I'd be glad to let you try out .....
both are old NOS after-market parts that date from the 1980's.
They have this sort of ugly purple color blued finish that you see on a lot of parts of that era and that's the reason that I never used them.
You're welcome to try them on, if you'd like to cover the postage?

Thanks for the offer, but I think I need more of a "upswept" beavertail to avoid the problem I am having. I also have the Colt CCO that has the Smith & Alexander beavertail that is extremely comfortable, but I understand I would have to modify my frame to install that as well. I believe Colt has a new beavertail grip safety that they used on the Wiley Clapp 21st Century Commander, but I don't see it offered for sale on their website. The Wiley Clapp is a Series 70 firing system versus my 80 Series, so it may be a non-starter anyway. Thanks again for your help.
