Identify: Blue Gold Cup Trophy w/ 100 year grips and duckbill?

In the process of buying my first 1911, and ordered a blue series 70 from my dealer back in October. Getting kind of sick of waiting, I stopped in to see about ordering another model, but low-and-behold, there was a Colt in the case.

Thing is, I do not think this gun is "right". It is a blue Gold Cup Trophy, with a duck bill grip safety and 100 year badge on the grip. It is a NEW gun, so it's not something where a previous owner modified the gun or bought new grips. It is NOT the new National Match model, which I initially thought it was since that gun is blue. Serial # is GCT32624

So did Colt just throw the 2011 grips on an older model they found laying around, or is this some legit model that I just don't see in the 2011 catalog? Either way I think I will pass as I don't think for $1100 I want some Frankenstein gun...

Oh and feel free to chime in with your recommendations for my first 1911, main criteria being: it is a Colt and it is a new model (have credit at this particular store I'm using). sure this gets asked 400 times a day though...

I just purchased a GCT serial # GCT3256X on friday. Mine is just as you described plus a flat grooved top rib and elliason rear sight. I was pleased to see that colt was now offering a blue finish GCT. IMO this model 05870cs is a great value at that price. Cabelas web sight has some info on this model. I dont believe Colt has it on their web sight yet.
