I see two options if you want a Colt frame. Send your frame in to Colt for a replacement Series 70 (as they call them) frame or buy another pistol and swap frames.
Buy a Caspian Arms frame.
I have a CCG with a very pitted frame and would like to get a new frame. The internals are good and the gun is very accurate and reliable and I do not want to risk losing that. The frame and slide have been fitted together very well. It has a lot of aftermarket parts(grip safety, AD Swenson safety, mag release)and I would prefer to replace with a Colt frame.
What should I consider before making this change?

Why not just have the frame refinished? Any refinish is going to be better than trying to get another frame.

I bought a 1970 dob LW Commander recently that had just had Cerokote applied to the frame. Looks good and seems to hold up well.
