Talking Blood is Pumping, Waiting on a 1911 A1 WWII Ithica to be hand delivered

Here I wait as a 1911 A1 WWII Ithaca is on its way. After posting a week or so ago that letting this one get away was one of my biggest regrets, I decided to give the guy a call....some 15 or more years later. He still had it and was willing to sell it back to me for the same price I sold it to him. Well same value anyway, actually doing a gun/cash swap. I'll fill you in on the details and hopefully pics as things unfold. Can't wait to get the serial number and see which year it was made from the 1942-1945 time period that Ithaca put out around 380,000 of these. A neat piece of History. WOW still can't believe how all this lined up! God is GOOD!

It is here and in my posession. Everything checks out as I remembered. The SN is the 4th batch of serial numbers. There were a total of 6 batches of SN according to my outdated Gun Blue Book. ANYONE OUT THERE have the years for each batch made between 1943 and 1945. A little over 369,000 total made. If there can be a negative, it does have british proofs which can be a slight negative in value according to Rick Sapp's Colt book. But then again, this baby isn't leaving again. My son will one day be the recepient. Parkerized finish is in great shape, just a few character scratches. Just can't seem to stop smiling. Will try to post picks soon. Looks just like the photo on page 191 of Rick SApp's book. THRILLED!!!

If I read that serial number correct as 1863177, then it would be 1 0f 1500 in a shipment on AUG 16, 1944 to the commanding officer at Longue Pointe Ord Depot in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Those British proof marks may actually be some of the marks that Canada used. Do you have some close ups of those marks?

GREAT acquisition! If any Colt deserved an archive letter it would be that one. Congrats.

A letter would be great... if it was made by Colt!

As Vettepartz implies... the markings may not be Lend Lease stamps, but other proof marks. A clear picture of those proofs will help. (My reference book will also help!!)

You do have a very nice Ithaca by the way!!

It is an Ithica. Why would Colt have Ithica records?
