Run away... don't walk! The frame is 1918, but the original serial number was removed, and then a large area was milled out for the application of a new serial number. I didn't look at much past that... but that was enough for me!
On GB -
Slide appears to be m1911
Barrel appears to be old Government Model
Frame...? Frame has an unusual Serial Number condition.
What do you make of it?

I agree, although I'm sure ATF has better things to do (other than gunwalking) I would not take that chance. It is a Federal felony to remove the original serial number.
While I'm no expert, without documentaion as to who applied the new serial number this gun could be trouble. Issues like these with some older 1911 pistols come up on M1911.org on occasion.

Defaced plain and simple...."Run Forest, run !!!!"
Lol...I kinda thought so..!
Plus that Milled area just looks terrible.
I wonder why that was done?
I guess if the original Serial Number had been badly defaced or deeply X'd out or ground down or something, someone may have figured that a neat-enough by itself, if horrible in context, little milled-down area with a new Serial Number being assigned, would solve the issue.
Anyway, yeahhhh...my instinct ( and later, neophyte knowledge ) has always been to stay away from any 'funny' Serial Number conditions.
One sees such things on Harley Davidson Engine Cases sometimes, too...Lol...
