It appears one must be a member of the board to view the pictures. Can you post pictures?

    My thoughts?

    Envy.

THIS is what Colt should have made to commemorate the century anniversary of the Government Model.

    But it needs a reblue.

A reblue? I thought the mantra was "it is only original once". You can't change original.

the good judge has changed his outlook.
he now favors reblueing old worn pieces and decided to change his handle as well.
    welcome, JudgeTaurus!

Yes - it appears to be legit, but I believe the magazine catch lock should be the early type I (dimpled) variation. (This changed somewhere around serial number C350 or so.) The very early Government Models were serial numbered on the left side.

In my opinion, this pistol should remain as correct and original as possible. I have not handled an earlier GM... It is really quite a family heirloom!!

Without barrel markings, additional internal pics of componentry, and additional pics of the magazine.... the originality jury is still out on this one. I used to have C153 in my collection years ago, but went strictly military, as it seems they just carry much more mystique and interest....
