    New Colt Mustang Pocketlite 380

Greetings from Texas!I am new to this forum and I apologize if I'm posting this on the wrong thread.I just bought one of these beauties and I absolutely love everything about the gun. This is my very first Colt ever. I must admit I have not shot it yet but I expect it to shoot like a dream. The only thing I did not like on this pistol is the plastic guide rod. I just cannot believe that a $700 gone could come with a plastic guide rod. I heard that this was done to lower the overall weight of the gun but I just don't quite buy it.I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it also wondering if there are any rumors of Colt making a stainless steel rod down the road. I'm not a huge fan of OEM parts on my guns so I would greatly appreciate any answers or feedback from the members hereHave a great Memorial Day Weekend y'all!

Hi and welcome to the Colt Forum. You posted in the right arena. That guide rod is not only light weight but plenty sturdy with normal shooting. If it gives you more comfort, by all means get a stainless steel version. Easy to switch out and the weight difference will be negligible. Nice to have you here.

Thanks guys, I have heard that OEM guide rods dont work well on this model that's why I was wondering if there is a specific stainless steel rod recommended. I will check out American Natn'l, any other ones worth considering?

scott mcdougall and associates make one. they were experts in modifying mustangs for better performance. their guide rod is one of their mods. I have one in a mustang that I shoot and I have an extra one that I would sell. it also comes with their 12 lb recoil spring.
30 dollars shipped. pm me only if you are seriously interested.

I've owned one for many years and put one on right away. Just for piece of mind. That nylon rod does bend, probably to make it easier to disassemble. The steel rod does just fine.
I'm never without mine when traveling. Smart purchase!
