    Cylinder Steel Strength

    Hi,

I want to make a 9mm conversion cylinder for my Python. Are Officers Model 22 cylinders from the 50's and 60's strong enough to contain 9mm presssures?

Are you worried about accuracy? Not withstanding bullet shape, .355 vs .357 diameter. I think dfariswheel and/or A1A should chime in on this one.

Python groove diameter is .355", isn't it? Besides, Beretta and Sig 9mm barrels have .357/8" groove diameters and they are plenty accurate.

I would think a cylinder from the 60's would be strong enough.

The only potential problems are going to be a possibility that the cylinder collar may be short, which would require a collar stretch, and that requires the hydraulic machine Colt has and that the ejector may be too "short" to allow setting proper head space.
