This might be a source if the regular list of supply houses comes up dry.
I just purchased a Colt Woodsman Match Target (3rd series)
When I received the pistol I saw that the Safety Lock Detail Assembly has the "tab" broken off.
Seller described the pistol as in excellent condition with no mention of any broken parts, but did say "NO RETURNS"
I am in the process of trying to find the part...(wish me luck)
attached is a picture of the part (#36) the small tab is broken off. Its the tab just below an slightly to the left of the 3 in the number 37.
Any advice or help appreciated.
Lee's gun parts in Irving, Texas should have it. He's only open Tuesday through Thursday. Number is 972.790.0773.
I have been shooting my Match Target (c.1957) now for about 2 years at the range - very nice and accurate as long as you use decent ammo - I've settled on CCI mini-mags.
While shooting it a few weeks back, the rear sight became loose (I guess from the slide recoil) and several small parts disappeared at the range - could not find them anywhere! In particular, I need (2) rear sight rear detent balls, (1) rear sight elevation screw and (1) rear sight leaf pin.
If anyone knows a source, I would appreciate it.
PS: This is my first post here at the Colt forum!
Thanks to all,
I have found the part needed through Coltparts.com. Dean Wagstaff responded very quickly and said he had the part I needed. (good price too!) (safety Lock Detail Assembly)
I will be sending off the necessary funds and await the arrivial of my part.
So if anyone one needs a COLT part please check out his website at Colt Parts.com
He responded very quickly to my email with all the information I needed to feel comfortable ordering from him.
I have the part I need to fix my Colt Woodsman Match Target and will send it off tomorrow to Heffrom Firearm Classic in Iowa.
I called them and they were very helpful and I feel very comfortable sending my pistol off for repairs.
I will post pictures when it is returned in about 6-7 weeks. I am looking forward to taking it to the range.
Hey Jim, let us know how it does at the range. I've got a feeling that you are going to have a lot of fun out shooting your buddies with that one!
Since the pistol will be broken down to replace the Safety Lock Detail Assembly I am having them install one of their firing pins.
They said they will clean and tune the pistol for free since it will be broken down anyway. Nice people, can't wait for it to return.
