    LocTite

    So if a previous owner has used LocTite on a screw is there anyway to now loosen and remove that screw? flanman

    Yes, heat will break it loose and allow you to turn the screw out. An electric soldering iron held to the screw will usually apply enough heat, red loctite needs about 300F IIRC. With other versions like blue you may not need heat at all.

    Removing a locktited screw.

    Make sure you use a good quality gunsmith screw driver that fits the slot correctly. You could try tapping the screw driver with a small hammer as you try to turn the screw driver to loosen the screw. Obviously you want to have the firearm in a padded vice or on a padded surface with someone strong holding it in place.

    On Uberti Rifles they have an employee named "Bongo" tighten most of the screws. Locktite is not needed with Bongo on the job. The only wat to loosen them is to use the hammer/tap trick.

    If that does not work - and it can take a while - use heat from a soldering iron and try again.

    The only Locktite I will use is the Purple. It's small thread thread locker. And I only use a drop applied with a toothpick. Most people use too much and saturate all the threads.
