Armorers vice/gunsmith vise

I am looking to buy a gun vice. Nothing fancy just something functional. the intent is to use it for maintanence of my long guns, pistols and revolvers. If there is one that will do this and serve as a gun rest for sighting/shooting all the better. However to date all I can find is a Tipton that will convert from pistol to longgun and back. some of what I read says great device other reviews say don't waste the money. Any thoughts on Tipton or advice on where else to look or perhaps plans to work off of for building.

Hello, flanman..It's funny you asked..yesterday I was bored & browsing through Brownell's catalog..not looking for anything in particular, when i came across their gun smith vice..it's cast Al. but it looks prettty well made..two sets of jaws that swivel up in place..one hard steel, other padded..it has C clamp rig to clamp to any surface..only drawback was over $200.
