Cool Colt Repair and Refinishing of Army Special

Bought a Colt Army Special that was badly out of time. Called Colt and was given the ok to send it in for repair. Less than three months later it was back. Timing is perfect. The finish is outstanding. It looks like a brand new revolver someone put old grips on. If I could find someone to clean up the checkering on the grips it would look like new.

Best part? Repair and refinish was only $250.00 plus $30.00 shipping.

Worst part? I used UPS to send it and that cost over $50.00!!! I'll look at FEDEX next time.

My hat is off to Colt and their repair/refinish department.

You might find some grips on Ebay, or contact Swamprat on here, he restores wood grips.

I think that is fantastic that Colt took on a gun that can only be over 80 years old, even if several later models are based on it's design and are effectively the same. I'd sure like to see photos. Before and after if you happen to have them.

You should definitely send your grips to Swamprat. He did a set of 1911 grips for me that came out fantastic.
