Don't see why that wouldn't work. I have green luminous on the front sight of my Python, shows uo better than the plain black with my old eyes.
It looks like it's just paint in a hole in the sight. Would luminous paint hold up?

Luminous paint will do, but unless you "charge it" by holding a light on it, it won't glow in the dark.
Also, these paints won't have a usable glow for very long once in the dark.
The reason the paint dots fall out of sights is because the factory who made the sight failed to properly degrease the hole.
The lube in the hole prevented the paint from adhering.
Before putting something else in, use some alcohol to remove all lube from the hole and make sure it's dry.
