Use acetone. It won't hurt the blue but, of course, keep it away from the stocks.![]()
Not strictly a Colt, or gunsmithing, question but thought someone might have encountered the same problem. I acquired a model 34 Smith...LNIB, except the front sight has been painted orange. Any advice on how to remove it without damaging the underlying blue would be appreciated.

As A1A says, use Acetone or lacquer thinner and a solvent-proof toothbrush to remove the paint.
After removal, make sure to apply a lube to prevent rust, and make sure you do the same for the bore if there's any chance some got into the muzzle.
