Clearing the chambered round after dropping the mag on my WWI 1911 Repro to unload it - the round did not eject and I found it is in the barrel backward with the bullet sticking out at rear of barrel. No idea how this happened. Best way to unjam? Tonight I left it with cable lock through for safety. slide is also jammed and manual safety cannot be used. Gun was not shot, just CCWed. I loaded it prior to carrying earlier in the evening.
I can take it out to my range tomorrow and have the smith handle it - but if there is safe fix at home, wouldn't mind saving myself the drive.
Thanks

No, I don't think I will. Thanks! Feedback helped a lot. Off to the the range in the morning. How would something like that happen, I did notice a slight hang-up when loading and chambering the 7th round. I ejected it and chambered the next. Seemed no problem.
Loaded the mag back to 7 and inserted it.
Seems bizarre.........
Good I didn't need it for some SD emergency while carrying!

Remove the Slide and Barrel...Take the Barrel then, and, with a Wooden Dowel and keeping the Bullet facing away from anything which matters, push against the Dowel down the Barrel, and, the Cartridge will come out.
I really doubt one could detonate a Primer by pushing with a Wooden Dowel, but, one could relieve the center area of the Dowel as a previous Poster had mentioned, if one wanted.
Safety and Prudence are always a good guide...so...
What an odd thing to have happen!
Thanks but the slide is jammed tight 3/4's open. Can't remove it, so the barrel can't be removed.
Odd is right. The only thing I ever saw similar was a friend of mine who shot +p in his Kimber 1911 .45acp one time - and he also found one of the rounds chambered backwards while shooting. He showed me a photo of it. Similar to mine. He had some explanation to do with power of the discharge but I didn't understand it. But mine didn't happen during firing.

Oh...sorry...
Will the Slide move back a little ways, to clear the Cartridge, if a Wooden Dowel ( even say, a new, unsharpened Pencil or one sawn off at 90 degrees ) were to be used from the front of the Barrel?
I could try a new pencil, eraser end down the barrel and see if slide would move at all when the round was pushed a bit. I'll see how I feel in the morning. I may just opt for the smith at my range.

I just tried that. You need 3 hands, one to hold the gun, one to pull the slide back the little bit it will move - and a 3rd hand to push the round in the barrel. I had a new pencil which I inserted eraser end. But, not having a 3rd hand, I don't think this will fly.

You should be able to put the front of the slide (just the spring plug part) on a padded table and apply enough pressure to break the slide loose . Then you can disassemble as mentioned above . Then I second the wood dowel rod . Get a piece sized just small enough to barely fit and tap out the round .
Recommend safety glasses and gloves just in case .

But the slide is retracted back and jammed, so the front of the slide has 2" of the barrel protruding, like any 1911 with the slide locked back. So, it seems I'd be placing the front of the barrel on the table. Here's a pix of a 1911 with slide back, maybe make clear what I mean (not my gun but my slide is in the same position):

Just a thought. Can you get a pair of pliers on the bullet and wiggle it out?
