Junior Colt / Astra Cub firing pin

I was cleaning up my latest pocket gun acquisitions today and discovered this:

It is from a 1954 Astra Cub .22 short. The gun DOES function fine with this set up. It appears to me that a previous owner had a firing pin break. The "back half" has been ground smooth at the shoulder, and then a new and separate "front half" just dropped in place.

(The firing pin is supposed to be one piece with the same basic profile of the two pieces shown if they were joined.)

Have any of you seen similar "repairs" on these guns?

I haven't seen that type of repair. But I made a similar firing pin on a small lathe back when I had access to them. I guess if it works, why mess with success !! I take it you'll be looking for a replacement.

I agree and will leave it as I found it!

After crawling all over the net for Junior parts for a few years now, I have gathered a small cache of Junior firing pins. I don't think I will be searching the parts houses anymore, but I do keep an eye on GunBroker and Auction Arms. The Astra cost me less than $150 including all the shipping, transfer, etc. It is cheaper to buy the low end beaters than parts!

Unless they got them in within the last year, they do not have any. They just have them listed on the website.
