If it's a dovetail front, going back to original would involve welding up the dovetail and re-machining the slide for a tenon FS. That's a lot of work. If the current sights are high quality you may want to keep them to shoot and buy an all-original Commander to collect. Then you could either sell the one you have now, or keep it especially if the finish on the new one is satin nickel. Seeing satin nickel sights on a Combat Commander is difficult - that's why mine has a nice set of three dot Novaks on it.
I haven't said anything about the rear sight dovetail. If it's not original, you'd have to do similar surgery on it. In the end, you would still have a highly modified, non-original gun with little collector value, no matter what it looked like.
If you replace the slide, it's still non-original. All of this depends on whether you want a collectable or shooter.
