How much of the later cylinder assembly do you have? They use a two-piece ejector rod with a factory assembled ratchet and stem with a single spline.![]()
I read parts of the Colt shop manual that refers to early and late cylinders so would anyone know if it is pausable to fit a late D frame cylinder to a early teens police positive special? thanks ahead of time

OK, I have the ratchet and 2 piece ejector rod installed. I'll check the Kuhanasan book and recheck the diagram. thanks
Read Kuhnhausen closely.
Newer cylinders have a longer collar on the cylinder and are designed for the collar on the front to seat against the inside of the frame window below the barrel.
Older cylinders have a design in which a shorter collar on the cylinder seats against a flange on the cylinder crane.
Kuhnhausen describes machining the flange off so a newer cylinder can be used.
Indeed that is the next "issue". BTW it is not mentioned in text, only Figure 221.![]()
thanks guys, the buyer is going to first try and find an older cylinder. But fitting a new one looks doable with the help of the book.
