    Colt Mustang Trigger Concerns

I had a post earlier about my colt not ejecting every round. Think I have that one corrected. But my trigger is not resetting or reengaging or whatever you call it all the time. I have had to pull it out to get it to drop the firing pin. It acts as thought it is stuck and will not function until I pull it out. Not every time, but one is to many. Not sure if it is a cleaning concern or a spring or ??? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Rev, the first thing that you do is field strip the Mustang, and thoroughly clean the pistol. Make sure to flush the insides of the pistol thoroughly. I like to use Eezox; many people like CLP for this work. Some guns will malfunction due to dirt, dry grease, lint, gunk in the mechanical works of the gun.

Try that, then let us know how the Mustang works. If you still have a problem, most likely some of the true Colt experts here at Coltforum will have a remedy for you.

I cleaned, borrowed another magazine, and purchased winchester instead of federal round nose shells. It cycled flawlessly, but the trigger would not reset each time. I just bought some CLP and will use it for the difficult areas around the trigger when I get home from visiting with family for Thanksgiving. I also bought another mag for it. If the cleaning doesn't take care of the trigger I will order another trigger and spring assembly. Definitely making progress and thanks for the responses. I am optimistic the CLP will take care of the trigger issue though.

The plastic trigger may have a worn spot where it connects to the "linkage". That's what happened to mine, I woud up having an aluminum trigger installed.

Happy to say that I had a chance to put five rounds each through each mag and it performed flawlessly. I think maybe the Mustang is going to be ok! Thanks for all your help.
