SAA Fixed Cylinder Bushing Too Short. What To Do?

My 1983 Colt SAA .44 Special with factory numbered nickel cylinder has a little more play to and fro than I care to tolerate. It's not horrible but i'd like it tighter. It has the fixed bushing, of course. Can these be replaced and then a new one fitted to the gun after getting pressed in the cylinder? Or do they have shims for this? Thanks

"Lil Jon" at Colt said he can fix that....I think they drill the old one out and put a replaceable one in. Of course they may have to re-nickel the cylinder.

Check Brownells. They have shims for the Smith & Wesson and I have used them on Colt's and reproduction pistols to tighten them up. On reproductions I have counter bored the pin hole in the cylinder and turned a bushing to fit. I would never do it on a Colt because it is a Colt. Shimming will help prevent further wear to the cocking hand until you can let go of the revolver for a few months to get it fixed.
